Manchester City will face three top tier opponents in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup group stage after the draw was conducted live on talkSPORT2 this morning.

The Cityzens were the highest-ranked club in the group stage draw and they will have to overcome a tough assignment if they are to reach the knockout stage of the competition.

Manchester City have been drawn in Group B alongside Barclays Women’s Super League rivals Everton, Liverpool and Leicester City. It is the only all-top tier group in the group stage.

Elsewhere in the group stage draw, Aston Villa will meet four Barclays Women’s Championship opponents in Group A while Tottenham Hotspur face tough opponents in the form of Bristol City and Southampton in Group D. West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion will contest group E with promotion-chasing second tier pair Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City while Group C is an all-Barclays Women’s Championship group.

In a move which mirrors what happened in the competition in 2022/2023, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal have all been given byes to the quarter-final stage of the competition which is expected to take place in early 2024. It should be noted that if Manchester United or Arsenal exit the UEFA Women’s Champions League in the qualifying rounds, they will enter the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup at the group stage.

Full fixture dates and ticket details for all of the group stage matches will be revealed in due course.

Arsenal are the current FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup holders after they defeated Chelsea 3-1 in last season’s final at Crystal Palace FC’s Selhurst Park.
