Reading have signed Chelsea’s Emily Orman and trialist Rose Kite ahead of the new Barclays Women’s Championship season.
The Royals announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.
Both players are goalkeepers and complete Reading’s Goalkeeping Union ahead of the new season.
Chelsea keeper Orman is a member of the club’s first team squad, although she finds herself as fifth-choice goalkeeper at Kingsmeadow. The player had a successful loan spell at Crystal Palace in the 2021/2022 season where she won the club’s Fans’ Player of the Year award. Crystal Palace ended that season in fourth position in the Barclays Women’s Championship table, their highest league placing to date. Orman has just extended her contract with parent club Chelsea until summer 2025.
Reading’s second new keeper Kite joins the club following a successful trail spell. Kite has spent the last three seasons playing in the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division with Oxford United. The Yellows challenged for promotion to the second tier last season.
Despite not yet appointing a new manager, Reading have signed four players so far this summer. The club have added Charlie Estcourt, Ava Kuyken, Orman and Kite to their squad in the current transfer window.
