Blackburn Rovers forward Crompton suffers ACL blow

Blackburn Rovers have announced the news that forward Farah Crompton has sustained an Anterior Cruicate Ligament (ACL) injury.

The Lancashire club announced the news via a post on their official club Twitter account this morning.

It has been reported that Crompton sustained her injury in a recent pre-season friendly fixture. The player is now likely to miss the 2023/2024 season as a result of her injury.

Crompton has spent the last two seasons with Blackburn Rovers. She has scored five goals in 42 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship. Her four-goal return last season saw her end the campaign as the second-highest goalscorer in the Blackburn Rovers squad.

New Blackburn Rovers head coach Simon Parker will need to add to his squad before the start of the new Barclays Women’s Championship season later this month. The club parted ways with top scorer Saffron Jordan earlier this summer as she turned her focus to her career outside of the game and losing the services of Crompton is a further blow. Attacking reinforcements are almost certain to be made in the next three weeks.

Blackburn Rovers kick-off the 2023/2024 Barclays Women’s Championship season with a fixture against Birmingham City at Ewood Park on Saturday 26 August 2023.
