Spurs sign Manchester United forward Thomas

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Manchester United forward Martha Thomas on a two-year deal.

The Lilywhites announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.

Thomas joins Spurs after spending the last two seasons with Manchester United. The player has made 38 appearances for The Red Devils in the Barclays Women’s Super League while she has scored six goals. Thomas struggled for minutes at Manchester United last season with the player making just one league start for the club. The forward is in need of more game time and she will hope to get that at new club Tottenham Hotspur.

It is likely that Thomas could go straight into the Spurs starting XI this season. The Lilywhites have lost the services of forward Beth England following minor hip surgery and Thomas could fill the void left by her absence. England is expected to miss the opening weeks of the season as she continues her rehabilitation.

Thomas is Spurs head coach Robert Vilahamn’s second signing on Transfer Deadline Day. The North Londoners have also acquired the services of Chinese international forward Zhang Linyan on a loan arrangement. The player is not due to arrive at Spurs until after the season has started.
