Bristol City loanee Kaylan Marckese has returned to parent club Arsenal to continue her recovery from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.
The Robins confirmed the news this morning via a post on their official club website.
Marckese sustained her injury during Bristol City’s 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Ashton Gate in November. The player was replaced by youngster Olivia Clark in first half stoppage time after suffering her injury blow.
Bristol City had signed Marckese on a season-long loan arrangement from Arsenal but given the fact that the player will miss the remainder of the season through injury, she has now returned to her parent club to continue her rehabilitation. Marckese leaves Bristol City having made five appearances for the club in all competitions.
The Robins have already arranged cover for the goalkeeping position. The club re-signed former keeper Benedicte Håland on a short-term deal soon after Marckese’s injury. The Norwegian has been competing for the goalkeeping jersey alongside Clark. Bristol City’s first-choice goalkeeper Fran Bentley is still recovering from an injury but it is hoped that she will be back to full fitness in the not-so-distant future.
Bristol City resume their season with an Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Liverpool at Ashton Gate on Sunday 14 January 2024.
