Barclays Women’s Championship club Reading have confirmed the news that three first team players will take up fresh challenges in the second half of the season.
The Royals provided a squad update via a post on their official club website this morning.
It has been revealed that Freya Gregory, Rose Kite and Freya Meadows Tuson won’t be a part of manager Liam Gilbert’s group when the season resumes later this month.
Winger Gregory has been recalled from her loan spell at The Select Car Leasing Stadium ahead of schedule by parent club Aston Villa. The youngster made eight appearances for Reading in the Barclays Women’s Championship in which she scored two goals.
Goalkeeper Kite has opted for a new challenge after coming to a mutual agreement with Reading to release her from her contract. Kite joined Reading from third tier club Oxford United last summer but her only minutes have come in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup. The player could now pursue the opportunity of more regular game time elsewhere.
Midfielder Meadows Tuson has also found playing opportunities hard to come by. The youngster has been fielded on just three occasions by The Royals this season. She will remain on Reading’s books but will continue her development with neighbours Maidenhead United on a dual-registration basis.
Should the budget be available, Reading manager Gilbert could look to bolster his squad this month to provide further competition for places.
