Everton go to Aston Villa with plenty of confidence says Sørensen

Everton manager Brian Sørensen says that his side go into their Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Aston Villa with plenty of confidence.

The Blue Girls travel to The Poundland Bescot Stadium to face The Villans on Saturday afternoon.

Everton have won three of their last five games on the road in all competitions, a sequence which includes a 2-1 league victory at Aston Villa in late November. Manager Sørensen says that his side go into their latest away game with confidence and looking to progress in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.

“We will try to win it,” Sørensen said when speaking about his side’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup hopes in the pre-match press conference.

“It’s not that long ago that we played against Villa. It’s a different game with it being a cup tie and the first game after the break, so let’s see where everybody is at. We are full of confidence and ready to get going.

“It’d be really nice to progress in the competition and see where we get to. If we have to win something, it’s a good competition to win.”

Games between Aston Villa and Everton are always keenly-fought encounters and Sørensen knows that his side will have to be on top form to get through the tie.

He said “We know what to expect from them, they’re a good side and we will have to be at our very best. If we do that, we will be in good shape and good spirits to go and win the game.

“We know it is going to be a tough ask but every time we go and play a Villa side, it’s a tough ask and you have to perform to your highest ability.”

Everton’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie at Aston Villa kicks-off at 12.30pm on Saturday afternoon.
