Juventus defender Nildén joins Spurs on loan

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Juventus defender Amanda Nildén on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The Lilywhites announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

While Nildén’s move to North London is initially on a temporary basis, it has been reported that Spurs do hold an option to make the arrangement permanent in the summer.

The 25-year-old centre-back started her senior career in her native Sweden with IF Brommapojkarna before joining AIK Fotboll. Nildén then got a taste of Barclays Women’s Super League football in a two-year spell with Brighton & Hove Albion. A return home with Eskilstuna United DFF followed before Nildén joined latest club Juventus in 2021.

On the international stage, Nildén represents the Swedish national team. She has been capped on seven occasions to date. The player is on the fringes of the Swedish squad and she will be hoping that the loan move to Spurs boosts her chances with her national team.

Nildén becomes Spurs head coach Robert Vilahamn’s fourth signing of the January transfer window. The defender will be available for selection once the club receives international clearance and a work permit. It is not known whether Nildén could be available for the trip to West Ham United this weekend.
