Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner says that his side have to get under Arsenal’s skin if they are to be successful against The Gunners this weekend.
The Red Devils travel to the Emirates Stadium to face the North Londoners on Saturday afternoon. Manchester United are chasing Arsenal for the final UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification spot in the Barclays Women’s Super League table.
Speaking to the media in the pre-match press conference, Skinner spoke about the challenges with facing an in-form Arsenal side.
“Arsenal are a difficult team, we know that,” Skinner said. “They play nice football, have fantastic individuals, so yeah, I think it’s going to be tough.
“We have to be the one to get under the skin and we have to be the team that doesn’t just try and win one way. I think that’s going to be key going into this game.”
Not only is this fixture a huge game for Manchester United given their league ranking; the game will also be played in front of a sold out Emirates Stadium. Fans of The Gunners are sure to bring the noise and Manchester United boss Skinner will have to find a way of making sure that his side don’t get sidetracked by this.
He said “We have to try to silence a massive crowd again. If we can do it, it’ll be fun, if not, it can be a long night. We know the challenge that’s going to face us but we have to be the ones that are going to get under Arsenal’s skin and make sure that we try and perform to the best of our ability.”
Manchester United’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Arsenal kicks-off at 12.30pm on Saturday afternoon.
