Arsenal defender Leah Williamson has pulled out of the latest England squad with an injury.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official press release from The Football Association this evening.
Williamson is thought to have sustained a minor hamstring strain. Given the fact that the player has only recently returned from an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury, no risks are being taken and Williamson will no longer link-up with the Lionesses for the February camp.
The centre-back received her first England call-up in well over nine months last week when she was included in head coach Sarina Wiegman’s 23-player squad selection. Williamson was the notable inclusion but she must now wait a little longer to make her return to the national team.
Manchester United defender Millie Turner has been called-up into the England squad in place of Williamson. Turner is yet to make her senior England debut but she has been on the fringes of the squad in recent months.
England will fly out to Spain this week for a warm weather training camp. They will also play international friendlies against Austria on Friday 23 February 2024 and Italy on Tuesday 27 February 2024.
