Sheffield United defender Charlotte Newsham has confirmed that she is leaving the club.

The 24-year-old full-back announced her departure from the South Yorkshire side via a post on her personal X account this evening.

Newsham spent her youth in the academies of both Manchester City and Manchester United. She got her first taste of senior football in spells with Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town.

Newsham joined latest club Sheffield United in summer 2021. She was named the club’s Player of the Year following her strong performances in the 2022/2023 season. The defender made 56 appearances and netted three goals in her time playing Barclays Women’s Championship football with The Blades.

Announcing her Sheffield United departure, Newsham said “After three seasons at the club, I’ve decided it’s time to move on to something new. I can’t thank all the girls, staff and fans enough for supporting me over the years, the good times and memories will stick with me forever. One last time, UTB.”

Newsham becomes the fourth player to leave Sheffield United during the close season. Tara Bourne, Sophie Barker and Bex Rayner have also announced their Bramall Lane departures during the close season. Further player departures could be announced in the coming days.
