Newly-promoted Newcastle United will start their Barclays Women’s Championship adventure with a fixture at London City Lionesses.
The Women’s Professional Game revealed the 2024/2025 Barclays Women’s Championship fixtures this afternoon via an official press release.
Newcastle United were the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division champions last season. The Magpies have invested heavily in their squad over the summer and they will face another ambitious side in London City Lionesses at Hayes Lane on the opening day of the new season.
Elsewhere, newly-promoted Portsmouth travel to The Valley on opening day to face last season’s runners-up Charlton Athletic while two potential promotion hopefuls in Southampton and Bristol City will meet at St Mary’s Stadium. Birmingham City play host to Sunderland while Durham face Ash Thompson’s new-look Sheffield United at Maiden Castle.
Blackburn Rovers have a game-free opening weekend as a result of Reading’s resignation from the Barclays Women’s Championship over the summer.
All fixture dates and kick-off times will be announced in due course. Selected fixtures will be available for live streaming on YouTube this season.
