London City Lionesses sign Serbian international forward Ivanović

London City Lionesses have completed the signing of Serbian international forward Miljana Ivanović from Norwegian Toppserien club LSK Kvinner.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Pride this evening.

It has been reported that London City Lionesses have paid an undisclosed fee to LSK Kvinner to secure the player’s signature. Ivanović has signed a four-year deal with the Barclays Women’s Championship club.

The 24-year-old started her career in her native Serbia with Sportsko Društvo Vojvodina before making the move to Swedish side IFK Kalmar. Ivanović then returned home to Serbia where she played for ŽFK Mašinac PZP before enjoying spells with Arna-Bjørnar Fotball and LSK Kvinner. The forward has built an impressive record in the Norwegian top flight after netting 20 goals in 67 league outings.

On the international stage, Ivanović has been capped by Serbia on 19 occasions in which she has scored six goals.

After joining London City Lionesses, Ivanović said “I’m a fast, explosive player who likes to dribble, I can play in all three forward positions, so hopefully I will entertain the fans this season. I started my career in Serbia, before moving to Norway, and now signing for London City Lionesses.

“I would say that I’m still waiting for the highlight of my career – one [standout memory] is when we qualified for the U17 European Championship, which only had eight teams and was a really big achievement. I wouldn’t say that I have one highlight yet, the best is yet to come.

“When London City called, I was really interested in the whole programme. I felt that the Club had a lot of belief in me and they wanted me to be part of the project. With Michele [Kang] doing everything she can to support us, it was a no-brainer for me to join this team and try to help us reach the Super League.”

Ivanović is London City Lionesses’ sixth signing of the summer transfer window.
