Arsenal have completed the signing of Aston Villa goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar on a permanent deal.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Gunners this morning.
It has been reported that Arsenal have paid a substantial fee to release Van Domselaar from her contract at Aston Villa.
The 24-year-old Dutch international stopper moves to the Emirates Stadium after spending one season with her former club. Van Domselaar made 15 appearances for Aston Villa in all competitions in 2023/2024 before a hip injury brought her first season in England to an early end.
On the international stage, Van Domselaar made her senior debut for The Netherlands in February 2022. The player has since made the number one jersey her own and has gone on to collect 27 caps.
Van Domselaar has the potential to be the world’s very best goalkeeper and she will be hoping to shine at new club Arsenal.
After joining The Gunners, Van Domselaar said “I’m really happy to be here. If you look at Arsenal; the players, the team, the stadium, it’s a huge club and I’m so excited to be part of it. I want to win trophies and achieve big things, and Arsenal is the right place for me to do both. I can’t wait to play at Emirates Stadium in front of all the supporters and show what I can do.”
Van Domselaar is Arsenal’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
