FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division club Watford have completed the signing of former Crystal Palace midfielder Anna Filbey.
The Golden Girls announced the news via a post on their official club website this afternoon.
Filbey joins Watford after leaving former club Crystal Palace at the end of last season. The 24-year-old Welsh international spent two years with The Eagles in which she made 36 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Championship and scored two goals.
The midfielder made plenty of history with Crystal Palace. Filbey was a member of the first full-time professional Crystal Palace side in 2022/2023 while she was a Barclays Women’s Championship winner with the club last season.
After adding Filbey to her squad, Watford boss Renée Hector said “We’re delighted to have Filbey onboard, I know first-hand how much quality she has on the ball and her versatility between defence and midfield makes her a really strong option for us.
“She is also a top girl and has settled into our environment brilliantly. We’re looking forward to having her in the side this season.”
Filbey is Watford’s first signing since the club were relegated to the FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division at the end of last season.
