Chelsea’s assault on the FA Women’s Super League title will resume on Sunday afternoon when they take on Reading at Kingsmeadow.
Emma Hayes’ side are four points off the summit but they have a game in hand over both Arsenal and Manchester City.
Blues boss Emma Hayes could opt to hand debuts to recent signings Jamie-Lee Napier and Sam Kerr against The Royals. The latter is being tipped to be one of the FA Women’s Super League’s biggest-ever stars with Kerr having already smashed goalscoring records in the United States and her native Australia.
Despite the nine-point difference separating the two sides, Sunday’s encounter could be a close one to call. Reading have proved tough opponents for The Blues in recent years and Kelly Chambers’ side won 4-2 on penalty kicks in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup at Kingsmeadow just a month ago.
The Royals arrive in the Royal Borough of Kingston on the back of some patchy form. The club have recorded a win, a loss and a draw in their last three matches. In contrast, Chelsea are unbeaten in their nine league matches this season, although they could only battle to a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at a boggy Prenton Park last time out.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at 12.30pm will admission available on the day for all supporters.
