Manchester United and Arsenal have been handed home ties in the semi-finals of this season’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup after the draw was made this afternoon.
Manchester United will welcome Chelsea to the Leigh Sports Village while Arsenal take on the current holders Manchester City at Meadow Park in a replica of last season’s final.
The way that the draw has panned out means that there will be one club appearing at next month’s FA Women’s Continental League Cup final for the very first time. Both Manchester United and Chelsea have previously reached the semi-final stage of the competition but they have never gone one step further and reached the final.
In the other tie, Arsenal will be looking for revenge on Manchester City following their penalty shootout defeat in the final at Bramall Lane last season. The two sides played out a hard-fought 0-0 draw over the course of 120 minutes in Sheffield before City won the trophy courtesy of a 4-2 penalty shootout success.
The Football Association announced in midweek that this season’s final will be held at The City Ground, home of Nottingham Forest FC. The showpiece is scheduled to take place on Saturday 29 February and will kick-off at 5.30pm.
