Liverpool sign Canadian keeper to cover for injured Kitching

Liverpool manager Vicky Jepson has added Canadian goalkeeper Rylee Foster to her squad according to reports from The Reds’ official website.

The 21-year-old initially joins the Merseyside club as a third choice goalkeeper behind Anke Preuss and Fran Kitching.

Foster will play deputy to German keeper Preuss in the coming weeks following youngster Fran Kitching’s  training ground injury which she sustained a little over a week ago.

New arrival Foster moves to the FA Women’s Super League following the completion of her studies in the United States where she represented West Virginia University. The keeper spent four years playing for West Virginia during which she made 84 appearances, keeping a clean sheet in almost every other game. She received back-to-back nominations for the MAC Hermann Trophy, an award which recognises outstanding performance at college level in the United States.

Foster’s performances have also not gone unnoticed by her country with the player having represented Canada at Under-20 level.

Liverpool have handed Foster the number 13 shirt and the player could be in-line to claim a place in the matchday squad when Jepson takes her side to the Sir Tom Finney Stadium in Bamber Bridge for their reversed Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie against Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.
