PREVIEW: Chelsea v Liverpool

Chelsea will be aiming to reach yet another Women’s FA Cup quarter-final when they take on Liverpool in their fifth round tie at Kingsmeadow this evening.

The Blues are enjoying an excellent campaign to date and with a first FA Women’s Continental League Cup final appearance already in the bag, Emma Hayes’ side will now focus on taking another step towards Wembley in the Women’s FA Cup.

Chelsea go into their fifth round tie with Liverpool with international duo Ji So-yun and Sam Kerr having returned from Tokyo 2020 qualifying with South Korea and Australia respectively, although both players could be rested for tonight’s clash at Kingsmeadow given the miles which they have travelled recently. With huge fixtures against Manchester City and Arsenal on the horizon in both the FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Continental League Cup, Blues boss Hayes could opt to rotate her squad.

Liverpool arrive in Norbiton on the back of a three-week break due to postponements. The Reds have won their last two matches in all competitions and will be confident of causing an upset, especially after holding Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in their league meeting at Prenton Park in December.

Tonight’s match is scheduled to kick-off at 7pm with admission available on the turnstiles.
