Manchester City Women OSC member prepare to present signed match balls

WEEKLY UPDATE: Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club #43

Welcome to this week’s Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club update.

What a game that was on Sunday. Both Manchester City and Chelsea showed the levels of commitment and drive to win that any fan could only be proud of. Personally, I thought that the draw suits Chelsea better than us but all we can do carry on doing what we do, winning all of our remaining games and seeing where that leaves us. One thing is for sure, there is a lot of football still to be played in this FA Women’s Super League title race.

It was great to welcome the travelling Chelsea fans to The Academy Stadium. We always try to make visiting supporters feel welcome (off the pitch at least). The crowd were treated to the ‘Game of the Season’ and the banter was back and forth as always.

Supporters club-wise, this week has seen us make plans for a coach trip to Leicester City in the Women’s FA Cup quarter-finals. Huge congratulations go to them on knocking Reading out in the last round last week. We have never been to Farley Way before and are very much looking forward to it.

Manchester City held a meet and greet with Jill Scott, Demi Stokes and the trophies in the Manchester Arndale Centre last week and many of our members attended that event for the obligatory selfies and autographs. It is fantastic when the club put on these events and the fans have the opportunity to get up close to their heroes and the silverware.

One last task which we had to undertake at the Chelsea game was to continue our OSC tradition of presenting City hat-trick scorers with a match ball signed by our members. This time, after our exploits against Ipswich Town last week, we had three to present to Pauline Bremer, Jess Park and Georgia Stanway. After the game, Leanne, Blandie and Caroline presented Jess and Pauline’s and although we missed Georgia as she was hauled away on media duties, we did present it to Ellen White who passed it on. Georgia was contacted us on social media to say thanks.

Despite the international break now set to begin, we will still be as busy as ever organising travel and our upcoming trophy roadshow event while many of us are heading to Wembley this weekend to support our men’s team in the Carabao Cup final. It is a great life being a Blue.

Enjoy the FA Women’s Continental League Cup final this weekend if you are going to Nottingham or watching at home and we will be back again next week with another update.
