Welcome to the latest update from us here at the Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club.
With the international break now kicking in and no FA Women’s Super League fixtures this weekend, you would be forgiven for thinking that we would be a little quieter on the news front, however, we are as busier than ever.
Last week, we were invited to a talk on football kit history at The National Football Museum. The talk was happening alongside their fantastic STRIP! exhibition and besides several kit experts, the panel also included Katie Zelem and our very own Janine Beckie. The panel all picked out some of their favourite kits and some they were less fond of too with City’s current third kit being discussed at length. It was a great evening full of insight and stories of kits and the players that wore them and having the opportunity to meet up and chat with Janine is always a pleasure.
We learnt the sad news last week that Pauline Bremer will be leaving the club at the end of the current season. Pauline is a player who the OSC have a special relationship with and as we wish her luck in her future career, we will certainly miss her and her smile at our games next season. There will be more on Pauline in my column next week.
Last Sunday saw a large number of our OSC members head down to Wembley again to support our men’s team in the Carabao Cup final. We arrived reasonably early and positioned our flag. We had lots of City fans commenting so positively on it and asking about our supporters’ club and following the women’s team. We handed out many of our cards but if anyone else wants to join up, you can contact us via E-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org. We would be delighted to welcome you onboard. We all had a fantastic afternoon down at Wembley as the club picked up yet more silverware with hopefully more to come this season for both our men’s and women’s teams.
Before I sign off, the OSC would just like to say congratulations to Chelsea on winning the FA Women’s Continental League Cup. It was a close final which saw them just edge out Arsenal. We hope that the fans enjoyed the day out as I know we did last season.
Enjoy the SheBelieves Cup plus any other international football which you are attending or watching this week and I will be back again next week.
