England have lost their opening fixture of the SheBelieves Cup 2020, going down 2-0 to the USA in Orlando.
Christen Press and Carli Lloyd got the goals early in the second half as the hosts defeated the Lionesses once again.
The USA were the stronger side throughout and only the brilliance of England goalkeeper Carly Telford kept the world champions out.
First, the Chelsea keeper stood tall to prevent Lloyd from getting a shot on target before Telford saved efforts from Lindsey Horan and Rose Lavelle later in the half.
The USA took the lead in impressive fashion seven minutes after the interval. Press took aim from distance and curled a wonderful effort beyond Telford into the back of the England net.
Press had been set up by Lloyd for the opening goal and the former Manchester City forward got her own name on the scoresheet moments later as her clinical close range finish made it 2-0 and put the game well and truly beyond England.
It was almost even worse for Phil Neville’s Lionesses but Julie Ertz had a third goal ruled out for the USA late on with the midfielder in an offside position.
England are back in action on Sunday when they face Japan in New Jersey.
