WEEKLY UPDATE: Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club #45

Welcome to this week’s Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club update.

With the international break now in full effect, there have obviously been no Manchester City games for us to attend this week but we have still been very busy at the OSC.

Firstly, we have now filled our coach for the trip to Leicester City for our Women’s FA Cup tie on Sunday. This is great news and is a tie that we are all looking forward to very much. There is a great atmosphere created when we all travel together on a coach to a game, it really gets you in the mood, especially for the cup games.

I hope everyone has been enjoying the international games. We had a few members pop over the border to Wrexham on Friday evening to watch the Wales game plus we have all been following the England and Scotland games on television too. As a fan, there is a strange mix of immense pride and then fear of injury when you see so many Manchester City players on international duty but we  wish them all well and look forward to welcoming them home.

One big event did take place last Friday. We were invited down to The National Football Museum again as part of their International Women’s Day celebrations. Both Gemna Bonner and Karen Bardsley were very kindly donating a few very special items to the museum’s women’s football collection. Karen donated international caps from the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 and UEFA Women’s EURO 2017 plus two cup final City shirts while Gemma donated her FA Women’s Continental League Cup final shirt from last season and her specially designed Manchester Bee boots worn in The Etihad derby match at the start of this season.

This was really good of them to donate such special pieces of memorabilia. After their media duties, both players mixed with us and posed for the usual selfies and autographs. It will be particularly good to see Karen back to full fitness after missing the season so far with injury. She is a player with a special connection to the fans and we think so much of her.

Hope you all have a good week and if you are at the Leicester City v Manchester City tie then please come and say hello. We will be selling the latest copies of FAWSL Full-Time magazine too which include content on both clubs so please come and get them.

Enjoy your football and wishing you all good health.
