West Ham United have confirmed that no less than six players will be leaving the club at the end of their current contracts according to reports on The Hammers’ official website.
The Hammers have confirmed that goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse, defenders Vyan Simpson and Olivia Smith, midfielder Tessel Middag and forwards Esmee de Graaf and Ruesha Littlejohn are all leaving the club this summer.
Goalkeeper Moorhouse has been understudy to first choice goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan this season while Smith, de Graaf and Littlejohn have all played bit part roles for The Hammers during the 2020/2021 campaign. Defender Simpson spent time on loan with London City Lionesses this season while midfielder Middag was arguably the most involved player of the six departures.
All six players are set to become free agents this summer with West Ham United having confirmed that they will not be signing new deals with the club.
Despite being tipped for a strong finish in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League this season, Matt Beard’s side were only able to record an eighth-place finish. The Hammers’ summer departures will free up funds in the budget to allow manager Beard to strengthen his squad during the close season as the club look to fulfil their full potential next term.
