Charlton Athletic captain Grace Coombs has signed a new contract at The Oakwood for the coming season according to reports on The Addicks’ official club website.
The 29-year-old defender has spent the best part of two decades with the South East Londoners and is very much a Charlton Athletic legend.
It has today been reported that Coombs will continue her Charlton Athletic career in the 2020/2021 season with the player having agreed a new one-year deal with The Addicks.
The defender has more than 250 Charlton Athletic first team appearances to her name. Coombs featured in all-but-one of The Addicks’ FA Women’s Championship fixtures last season with suspension putting an end to her perfect appearance record.
After signing her new deal with Charlton Athletic, Coombs told the club’s official media sources “I love being at the club so I’m delighted to have signed for another year, even after being here for so many years, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be playing my football.
“We’ve got a great group of girls and staff at the club and I can’t wait to get back to training. Last season was a tough one for us and we know we massively underachieved so I’m really looking forward to the season starting so we can put things right.”
Coombs is the first player to commit to Charlton Athletic for the new season. The defender’s new contract has handed The Addicks a real boost as manager Riteesh Mishra looks to build a squad capable of winning football matches once again after a tough 2019/2020. Coombs is the rock in the Charlton Athletic side and an ultra-reliable player that a team can be built around.
