Long-serving full-back Ellie Christon has signed a new contract with Durham ahead of the new FA Women’s Championship campaign.
The 26-year-old has spent the last six years with The Wildcats and only teammates Beth Hepple and Sarah Wilson have gone on to make more appearances for the club in all competitions.
Durham have this evening announced on their official Twitter account that Christon has extended her contract at New Ferens Park for the coming season.
We’re delighted to confirm that @echriston will be staying with the club for the 2020/21 season ✍️

Christon joined Durham in 2014 ahead of the very first FA Women’s Super League 2 campaign. She has played an important role in The Wildcats going on to become one of the strongest sides in the second tier of women’s football. Christon is one of just three players to make more than a century of appearances for Durham, although she could be joined in the 100 club by a couple of her current teammates during the 2020/2021 campaign.
Last season saw Christon feature in all 14 of Durham’s fixtures in the FA Women’s Championship with 11 of her outings coming as starts. The Wildcats failed to keep a clean sheet when Christon did not start while they recorded five shutouts when she was in Lee Sanders’ starting XI.
Christon becomes the sixth Durham player to agree a contract extension with the club for the 2020/2021 campaign.
