London City Lionesses have completed the signing of American goalkeeper Shae Yanez for the coming season according to reports on The Pride’s official club website.
The 23-year-old brings American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) experience to the London City Lionesses from Yanez’s spell with former club Washington Spirit.
The keeper spent the 2019 campaign with The Spirit and while Yanez was named amongst the substitutes on 22 occasions, the player did get onto the field as her side won 3-0 at Orlando Pride in October last year. Since representing Washington Spirit, Yanez has since tested herself in Spain with Segunda Division Feminine champions Santa Teresa.
Upon joining the London City Lionesses, Yanez told the club’s official media channels “I am really excited to join the London City Lionesses for the upcoming season. The standards, professionalism and facilities are absolutely amazing and are a few of the reasons why I decided to join this club.
“The culture and environment set forth by the coaches, staff, and players provides an atmosphere for players to not only grow and learn every day, but also be challenged and competitive.”
The keeper is new London City Lionesses head coach Lisa Fallon’s second signing of the summer. She joins fellow American Allison Murphy at Princes Park with The Pride beginning to adopt a Stars and Stripes theme for the coming season.
