Young forward Ria Montgomery is the latest player to agree a contract extension with FA Women’s Championship club Blackburn Rovers.
The 21-year-old striker has put pen to paper to secure her stay at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium for the upcoming campaign.
Montgomery made seven appearances for Rovers in the FA Women’s Championship last season with three of those outings having been starts. She is still looking for her first goal in the second tier. With last season’s top scorer Natasha Flint having left the club earlier this summer, more opportunities may come Montgomery’s way in 2020/2021.
Blackburn Rovers announced the player’s contract extension on their official club Twitter account earlier today.

Montgomery is one of the longest-serving players at the Lancashire club after joining Rovers from local rivals Burnley in summer 2015. The player starred for Rovers’ Development Squad before being handed some first team opportunities by manager Gemma Donnelly. The striker has now made 40 senior appearances for Rovers in which she has scored two goals.
Rovers boss Donnelly has now retained eight members of last season’s squad for the new campaign. Those who have signed new contracts are Saffron Jordan, Ellie Stewart, Natasha Fenton, Kayleigh McDonald, Chelsey Dukes, Ellie Fletcher, Lauren Thomas and Montgomery.
