Blackburn Rovers midfielder Leah Embley has announced that she is leaving the Lancashire club this summer.
The talented winger has spent one season at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium in which she has made eight appearances in the FA Women’s Championship in a Rovers shirt.
Embley has largely been used as a substitute by Rovers boss Gemma Donnelly and at the end of a slightly frustrating season on a personal level, the player has announced that she will be moving on this summer. Embley took to her personal Twitter account to confirm her Rovers exit earlier today.
My time at Blackburn rovers ladies has come to a disappointing end.
I’ve met some great girls who have helped me through a rollercoaster of a season.
I’m excited for what is next for me and can’t wait to get back on the pitch again.
I wish the girls the best of luck next season pic.twitter.com/JdNZg2MQB0— Leah Embley (@leahembley7) June 7, 2021
Embley joined Rovers last summer off the back of making a positive impact to the women’s game in Lancashire. The winger has impressed in previous spells with Burnley and AFC Fylde. The player has also previously represented Huddersfield Town.
Despite the season having ended three weeks ago, Embley becomes the first player to announce that she is leaving Rovers this summer. She made her final appearance for the club as a late substitute in their 1-0 home defeat to Charlton Athletic in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup fifth round in Leyland last month.
