Sheffield United have this afternoon confirmed the signing of forward Jess Clarke on a free transfer from Liverpool.
The 32-year-old was set to leave The Reds this summer upon the expiry of her contract at Prenton Park and it has been revealed that the player has sealed a move to Sheffield United.
The Blades confirmed the news to FAWSL Full-Time via an official club press release earlier today. It is understood that Clarke has signed an initial one-year deal at The Technique Stadium.
Clarke brings plenty of versatility with her to South Yorkshire. The player can occupy any of the attacking positions either out wide or in the middle. The 52-times capped former England international has gained plenty of top flight playing experience in spells with Lincoln Ladies, Notts County and Liverpool.
After signing on at Sheffield United, Clarke said “I’m really excited, I’m really positive, but more importantly I’m feeling grateful too. I think initially from having the conversation with Redders I knew this is the right environment from me and I’m just really excited to join the journey.
“If you look at the team from a distance, they’ve always competed and that for me was very desirable. The way they play through the third, they were always scoring goals and it’s credit to Redders how he’s implemented his way of playing on the pitch.”
Clarke has been handed the number 11 shirt by The Blades and she will link-up with her new teammates in pre-season.
