Arsenal forward Vivianne Miedema netted two goals as The Netherlands defeated Norway 7-0 in Enschede this evening.
Miedema’s brace saw her extend her record goal tally for the Dutch to 73 goals while Arsenal teammate Danielle van de Donk was also on target for Sarina Wiegman’s side.
It took The Netherlands just 14 minutes to break the deadlock through Miedema before Sherida Spitse’s goal 20 minutes later gave Wiegman’s side a two-goal advantage at the break.
It was a case of Dutch delight in the second half as they went goal crazy. Jill Roord netted the third goal of the game very early in the half before Norwegian defender Ingrid Moe Wold marked her final career appearance with an own goal.
Miedema then added a fifth before Shanice van de Sanden and Van de Donk got their names on the scoresheet late on as The Netherlands won the match 7-0.
Tonight’s performance was one which was very much needed by the Dutch after they suffered a shock defeat against Italy on Thursday. The Orange Lionesses were undone by a first half penalty in Ferrara as slipped to a second consecutive defeat away from home.
The Netherlands could pencil in one more round of friendly fixtures before they head to Japan for the Olympic Games next month.
