The start dates for the 2021/2022 Barclays FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship seasons have this morning been confirmed.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the dates in an official press release issued by The Football Association.

It has been confirmed that the 2021/2022 Barclays FA Women’s Super League will start on the weekend of 3-5 September. The upcoming season will see Leicester City play top tier football for the first time with The Foxes having won the FA Women’s Championship title last season while no less than four clubs will start the new campaign with new management.

Off the pitch, the new season brings the start of a brand new partnership as the ground-breaking multi-million pound broadcast deal with Sky Sports and the BBC begins, bringing Barclays FA Women’s Super League to more homes than ever before.

It has also been confirmed that the new FA Women’s Championship season will kick-off one week earlier on 28-29 August. This season will see the league boosted from 11 clubs to 12. While one club take the place of relegated side London Bees, Tier Three clubs have been bidding for a licence for the remaining place. It was recently determined that Sunderland and Watford will take up the two vacant places. Those clubs will play at their highest levels of the pyramid since the 2017/2018 season. Bristol City will also play in the second tier this season following their relegation from the top flight.

Details regarding the release of new season fixtures will be announced in due course.
