Scottish defender Lois Heuchan has signed professional terms with Charlton Athletic according to reports on The Addicks’ official website.
The 25-year-old has spent the last two seasons with the South East Londoners, scoring an impressive five goals in just 29 FA Women’s Championship games.
Heuchan was one of the most consistent performers in a Charlton Athletic shirt last season and today’s announcement of the player’s professional deal is really good news for the club.
After signing on again at The Oakwood, Heuchan said “I’m honestly just super proud to play for Charlton Athletic. Knowing that we’ve got Karen (Hills) and Riteesh (Mishra) to run the team is something that filled me with a lot of confidence and faith, obviously for the good of the team but also for my own development.”
Heuchan spent the early days of her career north of the border with Celtic before moving to the United States where she combined her football with her studies at the University of Kansas. Heuchan returned to Europe to join French club Le Havre before joining Charlton Athletic in summer 2019.
Heuchan is a great option for Charlton Athletic to have in their squad. The player is versatile and will do a job in just about any position, wherever she is asked to play. Heuchan should start the season in defence but head coach Hills could opt to use her to fill in other positions throughout the campaign.
