Former Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic midfielder Anna Filbey has completed a move to Charlton Athletic according to reports on The Addicks’ official website.
The 21-year-old was released by Spurs at the end of last season and she has now been reunited with former boss Karen Hills at Charlton Athletic.
Hills signed Filbey from Arsenal for former club Spurs back in 2018 and the player went on to help the club to promotion to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League in 2019. The pair will now be looking to repeat the feat at Charlton Athletic this season.
After joining The Addicks, Filbey said “I’m really happy to have joined Charlton. I believe that this is the best environment for me on and off the pitch. I trust Karen and Riteesh (Mishra) to develop me and help me really kick on as a player.
“I’m really excited to see what we as a team can achieve this season because I’ve loved every minute so far.”
Filbey made six appearances for former club Spurs in the FA Women’s Championship before representing the club on 18 occasions in the top flight. The player struggled for starts last season and spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Celtic.
The midfielder becomes Charlton Athletic’s third summer signing.
