Brighton & Hove Albion manager Hope Powell has confirmed that loanee Rinsola Babajide’s stay with the club has come to an early end.
The 23-year-old Londoner joined The Seagulls on a season-long loan deal in July and the forward has gone on to make three appearances for the club in this season’s Barclays FA Women’s Super League.
Babajide has not been seen in the Albion squad since early November and manager Powell today confirmed that the player has opted to move on in a bid for more playing minutes.
“Probably not, no,” Powell said in a Brighton & Hove Albion press conference when asked whether Babajide will represent the club again. “It didn’t quite work out for Rinsola here.
“She wants to play. She doesn’t want to be guaranteed to play but she wants more minutes which we couldn’t guarantee her, we wouldn’t guarantee that for any player. She therefore chose to go elsewhere.”
Babajide herself confirmed her departure from parent club Liverpool earlier today via a post on her personal Twitter account. The player is now thought to be preparing herself for a fresh challenge with a new club with Babajide keen to obtain regular playing opportunities to showcase her talents.
