Reading have completed the signing of Northern Ireland international attacker Lauren Wade.
The Royals announced the news via a post on their official club Twitter account just a short time ago. Wade is the second Northern Ireland international to join Reading today with the nation’s first-choice goalkeeper Jackie Burns having also signed for the Berkshire club.
Like Burns, Wade has recently been recovering from participating at the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 with her country. Northern Ireland finished bottom of Group A as their debut European finals appearance came to an early end. Wade generally performed very well for The Green and White Army at the tournament. The attacker is closing in on her 50th senior cap for her country and could collect this in the next 12 months.
At club level, Wade started out with Coleraine before joining Glentoran in 2014. She then went on to represent Swedish club Umeå IK before enjoying a spell in Scotland with Glasgow City. Wade returned to Glentoran for a second spell last year.
Wade becomes Reading boss Kelly Chambers’ fourth signing of the summer transfer window. In addition to Burns and Wade, The Royals have also acquired the services of defensive pair Brooke Hendrix and Becky Jane in the current transfer window.
