Everton have completed the signing of former Reading midfielder Justine Vanhaevermaet on a two-year deal.
FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blue Girls this afternoon.
Vanhaevermaet joins Everton on a free transfer after leaving former club Reading earlier this summer following their relegation from the Barclays Women’s Super League. The Belgian international spent two years with The Royals in which she made 39 appearances for the club in the Barclays Women’s Super League, scoring six goals.
Everton are believed to have beaten off competition from rival clubs to land Vanhaevermaet’s services.
After joining Everton, the midfielder said “I’m so happy to be at Everton. This is a big club in English football and the women’s team has been progressing well over the past year.
“Everton already play at a good level; I hope I can help continue to improve that level and contribute to more success.”
Prior to the opening of the summer transfer window, Everton manager Brian Sørensen said that the club were set for a quiet recruitment period. Sørensen was targeting one or two new additions, however, Vanhaevermaet becomes his fourth signing of the summer transfer window. The Blue Girls have also signed Martina Piemonte, Emily Ramsey and Emma Bissell this summer.
