London City Lionesses midfielder Connie Scofield says that the team must keep looking forward after recording back-to-back wins in the Barclays Women’s Championship.
After an inconsistent start to the season, The Pride have defeated both Southampton and Blackburn Rovers in their last two matches.
London City Lionesses go into this weekend’s fixture against Birmingham City in seventh position. Midfielder Scofield says that the team must keep looking forward as they aim to climb the Barclays Women’s Championship table.
“It’s really important that we look forward,” Scofield said when speaking with WSL Full-Time. “We’ve just got two wins on the bounce and hopefully, there are more relationships building between players and in the team.
“We are learning every day and executing the game plan better. We are always given the best information from the coaches and it is just about executing that.
“We are going to do everything we can in every single game to get points on the board. We want to be much higher than where we are in the table at the moment.”
Birmingham City are three points ahead of London City Lionesses in fifth position and Scofield anticipates another really stern challenge.
She said “It’ll be a really tough test. We know how good Birmingham are and we know about their threats.
“We can’t wait to put what we’ve been working on in training into a game. We are ready to fight and do everything we can to get three points and a result.”
London City Lionesses have collected seven of their 11 points at Princes Park this season. Scofield says that the team feel really comfortable on their home turf.
“We love our stadium, the pitch is unreal and the place has a really good feel to it,” the midfielder said. “We love to see the fans come out and support us along with our families, we appreciate their support.
“We want to do everything in our power to make it a tough place for opposing teams to play.”
