England legend Ellen White MBE says that she feels honoured and privileged to be inducted into the Barclays Women’s Super League’s Hall of Fame.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official press release from The Football Association yesterday.
One of the most gifted strikers in the league’s history, White made 144 appearances for Arsenal, Notts County, Birmingham City and Manchester City, scoring an impressive 61 times and lifting nine trophies. Seven of those trophies came during her three-year stint at Arsenal and two at Manchester City.
White announced her retirement from the beautiful game following the Lionesses’ UEFA Women’s EURO success in the summer of 2022. She scored two of her record-breaking 58 England goals whilst helping her country to their game-changing victory.
Voted as the best moment in WSL history on a night of celebration for the new inductees, White’s iconic free-kick routine that she scored for Notts County against her former club Arsenal will certainly be one of many highlights in her glittering career.
Speaking following her induction into the Barclays Women’s Super League’s Hall of Fame, White said “It’s a real honour and a real privilege. I don’t like talking about myself, but it’s incredible and I feel very proud. Now I’ve retired, I can look back and feel very proud of what I personally achieved.”
White has been joined in the Barclays Women’s Super League’s Hall of Fame by Jill Scott MBE and Anita Asante.
