WEEKLY UPDATE: Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club #58

Welcome to this week’s Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club update.

I hope that you are all well and continuing to cope with the difficult times that we find ourselves in.

Since last week’s update, we have seen the titles in the top two divisions awarded and we have given our thoughts on what was a difficult decision in a separate article recently posted on this website.  We may have missed out on the title, but it was still an amazing season for us.

We were all delighted to hear that both Megan Campbell and Jill Scott signed new contracts with Manchester City this week. In Jill’s case, she is also taking on a coaching role. This is a great move and she is going to be able to share her vast knowledge and experience with a multitude of players.

Our standout team ethic and performances this season were highlighted in our OSC Player of the Season voting which culminated this week. We have never had such a close vote with so many different players in the running which shows you just how high the standard has been this season. Our overall winner was Lauren Hemp and we will be providing further details on this in a separate article later today. We are delighted to see Lauren win the award and we send her our congratulations.

This week has seen us appear as committee guests on the Man City Women Fancast’s review of the season podcast. We discussed last season, the appointment of Gareth Taylor and of course, our hopes for next season and for new signings. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Emma Meredith-Shone for another season of outstanding podcasts. It is always a joy to go on the show and we know it is very popular amongst both our fans, Manchester City fans in general and with opposition supporters too.

A few of us took part in another global get together with a number of supporters’ clubs again last weekend via Zoom which was a real pleasure. There are many differences and a few similarities in supporting teams, especially in the current climate and it is always great to hear from other clubs both here and abroad on how things are for them.

During the next seven days, author Andrew Waldon and myself will be putting the final touches to our third Annual MCWFC OSC Yearbook. I will have more details of how you can order a copy in next week’s update.

Finally, the June issue of FA Women’s Super League Full-Time magazine is out next week. As mentioned previously, if you haven’t got your copy, please order from FA Women’s Super League Full-Time direct. The cost of the magazine is £3 + £1 postage and the magazine is packed with news from both the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship. Payment can be made via PayPal to or credit/debit card. If you wish to pay by card, please request this via E-mail first and you will be provided with a secure payment link.

Stay safe and look after yourselves and I will be back again next week with another update.
